XVII International Symposium on Latin American Indian Literatures - LAILA,
May 11-13, 2006
The
traditional focus of LAILA is Latin American indigenous issues, however this
symposium will offer a comparative approach. The organizers are interested in
comparing the literary and cultural productions of Native Americans (USA), First
Peoples (Canada), and Latin American indigenous peoples. Organizers: Dr.

2006 Summer Major Media Workshops
for Teachers, June 12 - 23
This workshop integrates technological literacy into multimedia training. Topics
covered include: media, visual, film, and informational literacies and cultures;
culture-specific Internet and audio-visual resources, audio/visual capturing
and editing, photo-editing, Web site design and production. Readings will address
both theoretical and practical concerns with respect to major media. In addition,
the workshop participants explore formal operations and reception, in both the
target culture and abroad, of each new medium, and create content-based, on-line
modules, for eventual classroom application. Coordinator: Dr. Jan Macian.
