PORTUGUESE 401

Review Grammar and Composition
Portuguese 401 is a course on Portuguese grammar which focuses specifically on the Brazilian Portuguese variety. In this course students will work on grammar topics that usually cause difficulties for non-native speakers. The course has a linguistic approach, that is to say, grammar will be studied as a communicative and explanatory tool, and not as a set of rules to be memorized. Students will have ample opportunity to practice their oral, listening, reading, and writing skills, through classroom discussions, error-analysis exercises that are graded collaboratively, and handouts that deal with specific grammar topics. Students will also read selected texts in Portuguese from Internet sources.
