Course Description
This is the first literature/culture course most students will take and it constitutes a crucial link between previous courses in language and culture and upper-division courses in literature and culture. This course is not a historical survey, but rather an introduction to the various problems of reading different types (genres) of literary and cultural texts in the Spanish language. The curriculum includes Spanish-language writers from both Spain and Spanish America, and different types of cultural texts (including film) from the twentieth century, as well as a sampling of older texts. The course will be conducted in Spanish.Course Outcome Statement
