SPANISH MultiCAT
|

Computerized placement test usually taken during freshman orientation.
-
Places students in courses from 102.66 - 104.
-
Students with any college Spanish credit are not eligible to take this exam.
-
Students with less than 2 years of high school study are not required to take this exam.
-
This exam may be taken only once.
-
Native Speakers are not eligible.
- During the quarter, the MultiCAT is given Monday - Friday: 9:00am - 3:30pm

EM Proficiency Exams
|

Written exam that allows students to improve the MultiCAT testing results from 102.66 - 104.
-
Students with transfer credit who wish to place above previous course work.
-
Native speakers are only eligible to take the 401 exam.
-
This exam may be taken only once. Students currently enrolled in a course may take an EM Test for that course only during the first week of the quarter.
-
Fee: $40 (Check or money order payable to: Department of Spanish & Portuguese. This fee is due the day of the exam. No cash please.)

SLRPE
|
-
Spanish Listening and Reading Proficiency Exam (SLRPE) is one of the prerequisites for entry into Spanish 401 or above.
-
Students can repeat the SLRPE exam once but they have to wait until the fifth week of the following quarter. A third test may be petitioned through the Language Studies Committee.
-
Students enrolled in Spanish H104 or 250 are eligible to take the SLRPE by the fifth week of the quarter.
-
Students who took Spanish 401and 403 abroad must take the SLRPE before enrolling in any further Spanish courses.

SPANISH Native Speakers Exam
|

Students who graduated from a high school where the level of instruction was in Spanish are considered native speakers.
-
These countries include: Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Cuba, Mexico, Central and South America and Spain.
-
Requirements: Bring your OSU ID (or driver's license) with you to the exam.

Proficiency exams for students not enrolled in the Spanish graduate program of the Department of Spanish and Portuguese.

Dictionary reading: one 500 word text from the student's department (supplied by student's advisor) and one 250 word text supplied by examiner.

Use of dictionary permitted.

Time: 1 hour for 500 word text, 1/2 hour for 250 word text.
-
Requirements: Bring your OSU ID (or driver's license) with you to the exam.
