Fernando Díaz Buiza Fellowship

In honor of a beloved Art and Culture professor, Fernando Díaz Buiza, Connecting Worlds Abroad (COWA) offers a nine-month fellowship each year in Seville, Spain for an OSU Spanish major who is a graduating senior.  With support of the College of Arts & Sciences, the Department of Spanish & Portuguese supplements this fellowship with a $2000 monetary award to defray the cost of airfare and other expenses.

COWA provides a 9-month contract to work 20-25 hours per week with the “Ohio State in Seville” education abroad program for a stipend of 650 euros per month. Possible tasks include managing social media, programming supplemental cultural activities, and assisting with various administrative tasks such as creating and updating pertinent student documents and databases. COWA further offers health insurance and assistance with securing a visa. With support from the College of Arts & Sciences, the Department of Spanish and Portuguese is able to provide the additional $2000 award to the selected graduating student.

Application is open to Spanish majors who are graduating seniors, and who will be available to live in Seville and hold the fellowship from September 1, 2022 through May 31, 2023. The recipient must be proficient in MS Office and have some experience with WordPress and Photoshop or other graphic design software prior to arrival in Spain.
