After a total of two years in Spain, studying at the Universidad de Sevilla and teaching with a Fulbright grant in La Rioja, he has come to appreciate diverse cultural phenomena in both the north and south of the country. His primary research interests include the performance of identity through food and wine in the Spanish autonomous community of La Rioja, and how such gastronomic expressions sustain regional identity within the larger context of Spain. Other academic interests include language pedagogy, 21st century learning in the context of language learning, and technology-enhanced learning in the foreign language classroom.
