Please Join us for a 3 part series in the Basque Studies Symposium as a part of the Iberian Studies Colloquium.

11:00 - Film Screening
We will begin with a screening of the film Ocho Apellidos Vascos.

12:45-1:30 - Lecture by Professor Joseba Gabilondo
Next will be a lecture by Professor Gabilondo on Iberian functional fictions, queer populisms, and the in-vertebration of Spain (or why we are all unwilling Basque terrorists and enjoying it).

Joseba Gabilpndo is amply recognized for his work on Basque literature and culture. He's published extensively, and his most recent books, Before Babel: A History of Basque Literatures and Globalization and The New Middle Ages: The Return of Difference, are forthcoming.

2:30-3:15 - Aintzane Cabañes-Martínez
Lastly, PhD candidate, Aintzane Cabañes-Martínez will give a lecture titled: "Are We All Basque Terrorists? The Social Consequences of fear and Criminalization in Asesinato en febrero".

Aintzane Cabañes-Martínez is a PhD candidate in Contemporary Iberian Studies working on the representation of terrorism in Spain and the Basque Country in film, music, social movements, and journalism.
