We are delighted to invite you to an artist presentation & conversation with painter Frank Buffalo Hyde (Onondaga) on Weds Nov. 16th at 12:30pm at 358 Hopkins Hall, then relocating to the Barnett Center Collaboratory (Sullivant 141) for conversation during Our Unlearning Hour: Mask Dialogues from 2-3pm.
Buffalo Hyde's talk is organized by the Arts + Humanities Discovery Theme: Ancient Indigenous Monuments and Modern Indigenous Arts, who are bringing Indigenous arts to OSU for a residency to engage with the Newark Earthworks. Thank you to Ancient Monuments team - Dr. Christine Ballengee-Morris, Marti Chaatsmith & Anna Freeman - for creating & sharing this event, & to Suzanne Silver & other colleagues in the Department of Art for co-hosting!
This unique opportunity to engage with Indigenous arts & ways of knowing, which is not only central to our work of unlearning within the settler colonial institution of the university, but also an important moment of hospitality & reflection for us at OSU as we engage in exciting new hiring in Indigenous Studies across the university.
