Dr. Paul Julian Smith (Ph.D. University of Cambridge) is currently Distinguished Professor of Hispanic and Luso-Brazilian Literatures and Languages at CUNY- The Graduate Center. Dr. Smith has published 13 books and numerous scholarly articles on Mexican and Spanish visual culture and literature. His most recent work on television has been groundbreaking in the field of film and media studies. Dr. Smith’s latest book – Dramatized Societies: Quality Television in Spain and Mexico – will be released early this January 2017. As a hybrid scholar-film critic, Dr. Smith frequents film festivals, often writes film reviews for Sight and Sound and Film Quarterly and is an active tweeter on Twitter (@pauljuliansmith).
