SPANISH 6340: Spanish Phonetics for Teachers

Comprehensive study of the Spanish sound system, as well as preparation for, and practice in, the teaching of pronunciation. The course covers the principles of orthography, articulatory descriptions of sounds, phonetic transcription, phonological analysis, contrasts with English, issues in L2 phonological research, and best practices in the teaching of Spanish pronunciation to English speakers.
Prereq: Grad standing.
