Registration for the 2025 Certificate of Proficiency in Portuguese (CELPE-Bras) is now open!

The Ohio State University is the only institution accredited by the Brazilian Ministry of Education to administer the Certificate of Proficiency in Portuguese for Foreigners (Celpe-Bras) in the Midwest of U.S. Granted by Brazil's Ministry of Education, CELPE-Bras is the only Brazilian certificate of proficiency in "Portuguese as a foreign language" officially recognized by the Brazilian government. Celpe-Bras is useful for both professional and academic sectors. There are four levels of certification: intermediate, higher intermediate, advanced, and higher advanced. The exam consists of listening, reading, oral, and written productions.  

The official date range for 2025 are: 

  • Registration: Typically Early-Mid August: Official Portal for Registration (Click on "Realizar inscrição")
  • Written exam: Late October
  • Oral exam: Late October, During the same week as written (by appointment)  

After registering: You will receive a confirmation message with next steps (including payment instructions and scheduling).

Seis informações importantes para ter em conta se você vai fazer a INSCRIÇÃO no Celpe-Bras 2025: 

  1. Antes de tudo, é importante ler o edital para entender como a prova funciona, suas regras etc.
  2. As inscrições vão começar no agosto. Não tem uma hora definida pelo INEP para começar.
  3. O último dia para se inscrever é o de agosto, mas neste dia os Postos mais disputados geralmente já não têm vagas (tente se inscrever o mais cedo possível).
  4. De maneira geral, você não vai precisar anexar nenhum documento na inscrição, mas vai precisar responder a um formulário que vai demandar algum tempo. Então separe tempo para isso.
  5. O início das inscrições é, muitas vezes, caótico: sistema sobrecarregado, falhas diversas e quedas do site podem acontecer. Recomendamos que você tente se inscrever o mais cedo possível, para garantir um lugar em um posto conveniente para você.
  6. As inscrições são 100% online (mas a prova é sempre presencial)
