SPPO GTA Santiago Gualapuro Gualapuro has been awarded the Sonkin-Wasserman Families' Scholarship for International Understanding and Peace from the Office of International Affairs.

Established on March 2, 1984, Sonkin-Bergman-Wasserman Families' Scholarship for International Understanding and Peace provides awards for a deserving graduate/professional student at The Ohio State University active in research or study that contributes to the pursuit of international understanding and peace.

Santiago will use the scholarship to carry out research on Imbabura Kichwa in Ecuador. He plans to do both linguistic description and to investigate the reasons why people use and maintain Kichwa. This award will help him bild on a research program that he has been carrying out for many years, both independently and during his MA at the University of Texas-Austin.
