On March 9^th, Dr. Aracelis Nieves, Associated Faculty Alejandra Angulo and Graduate Advising Assistant Alfonso Roca attended the Guadalupe Youth Summit at Ohio Dominican University. The event, for Latinx high school students in Columbus Catholic Schools, was planned to engage and empower Latinx students through community building. SPPO’s Latinx recruitment and outreach committee were part of many local organizations that participated in the table fair for the Careers and Professions session. The committee shared with over 300 hundred Latinx high schoolers the many opportunities available to them at OSU and particularly in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese. Particularly, students were able to learn about our Heritage Learners courses and about scholarships available to them. Those who attended were really interested and wanted to learn more about all our programs. Thank you, Aracelis, Alejandra and Alfonso, for representing SPPO in this event.
