Honoring Loann Crane

Loann Crane profile

The Department of Spanish & Portuguese at the Ohio State University is saddened to learn of the passing of Loann Crane. Loann was one of our graduates and a very generous benefactor and supporter of our undergraduate and graduate programs. Each year a number of Loann Crane Awards are granted to our undergraduate and graduate students for their exceptional academic achievements. In addition to being a supporter of our academic endeavors, Loann was a philanthropic force in Ohio, supporting women, through the League of Women Voters and the Women’s Fund. She was also a great supporter of the arts, through her work with the Columbus Museum of Art, the Greater Columbus Arts Council and the Columbus College of Art & Design. Her contribution to our mission to cultivate young people with a broader and deeper understanding of the world we live in is truly eternal in nature, as these young people will, in turn, influence those they interact with. Dozens of truly global citizens have emerged from our program, thanks to Loann’s support, which will be remembered and appreciated for years to come. Loann was a model for us and she will be missed, admired and loved.
