The Department of Spanish and Portuguese is delighted to announce the reactivation of OSU's chapter of Sigma Delta Pi, the National Spanish Honor Society. We are home to a historical chapter. The reactivation of our chapter, Mu Lambda, took place after 36 years of inactivity; it was founded in 1977, but has not held an initiation of new members since 1978.
The induction that took place this spring semester marked the chapter's 5th ever induction, as well as the 40th anniversary since our very first.
Since reactivation in 2014, the Mu Lambda Chapter has:
Celebrated 4 annual inductions;
Financially co-sponsored two Annual Hispanic and Lusophone Studies Symposia;
"Corded" students from three classes (and looks forward to cording graduating seniors in May).
In addition, Ph.D. candidate Hector Iglesias Pascual has been selected as a recipient of a 2018 Sigma Delta Pi Graduate Research Grant Award from among a very competitive pool of applicants.
Congratulations to all!
