The latest issue of the Portuguese Newsletter, published by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP), has been published! This issue contains an interesting interview with José Luiz Passos, acclaimed Brazilian writer and Professor of Portuguese at UCLA, a short but important essay by Earl Fitz (Vanderbilt) about the challenges and opportunities of teaching Portuguese in the US in the current climate, as well as the obituaries of four colleagues who left us this year: George Monteiro (Brown University), Fernando Arenas (U. of Michigan), Phyllis Peres (American University in Washington, DC), and Clémence Jouët-Pastré (Harvard University).
