Sumac Puringashpa: a Virtual Reality Project

Sumac Puringashpa: A Virtual Reality Project

Sumac Puringashpa: Walking the Meaningful Path: Coming and Going in Andean and Amazonian World Views is a virtual reality project created by the Advanced Computing Center for the Arts and Design (ACCAD) in collaboration with the Department of Spanish and Portuguese and the Center for Latin American Studies at OSU. Users can explore the sights, sounds, and artifacts of the Andean and Amazonian world through virtual reality. The VR experience incorporates digital models from OSU's Andean and Amazonian Cultural Artifact Collection through the use of photogrammetry. Sumac Puringashpa serves as an exciting, interactive approach to studying the Andes and Amazonia that offers users a unique way to develop their understanding of the region's history and culture.
