Yuri Belloube is a first-year Ph.D. student in Studies of the Portuguese-Speaking World with focuses in contemporary Brazilian Literature.
Yuri holds a Master's degree in Literary Studies from Universidade Estadual Paulista - UNESP. He was awarded a federal scholarship from CNPq (National Council for Scientific and Technological Development) for his research entitled “The encounter with the self and the affirmation of identity as a form of resistance in Chicano productions,” in which he studied identity and resistance in Chicanx literary works. This research stemmed from a scientific initiation sponsored by UNESP rectory while he was still an undergraduate covered by student permanency policies.
Yuri under-graduated in Languages/Teaching (Letras) from the same institution in 2023. On that occasion, he published an article on the book “Ponciá Vicêncio” by Afro-Brazilian writer Conceição Evaristo, and carried out two scientific initiations. The first was on the influence of Celtic mythology on Shakespeare's work, in his first year, and the second was on the hyphenation of Latin identity in the United States and the pursuit of the American Dream portrayed in literary works, in his final year. He also worked for two years on the board of the undergrad academic journal "Mosaico".

Yuri is from Catanduva, Brazil, where the name can be translated from the indigenous Tupi language as “rough grass.” It is a reference to the most characteristic feature of the Brazilian savanna. Outside of the program, he loves to read , walk among the trees, watch movies and animes.
